16th Annual California McNair Scholars Symposium

Our McNair Scholars traveled to Berkeley, California to participate in the 16th Annual California McNair Scholars Symposium.  While in Berkeley, our scholars were given the unique opportunity to present their research and network with McNair Scholars and staff from many universities, representing a wide range of disciplines.

Scholars were engaged in several activities throughout their time at Berkeley. Symposium organizers coordinated a graduate school fair, providing the setting for Scholars to meet with recruitment and admissions officials from prestigious schools such as Harvard, Stanford, and UCLA, among others. Attendees also had the privilege of participating in a plenary session given by renowned author and lecturer, Don Asher (Graduate Admission Essays: Write Your Way into the Graduate School of Your Choice). As an authority on the subject, he shared valuable advice about the graduate school admissions process. The symposium experience concluded with a dinner and a dance on a San Francisco Bay cruise on the Cabernet Sauvignon Commodore. After an intensive summer of immersion in research, the scholars are ready to enter a new school year as Senior McNair Scholars.
